Robin Davis was wine buyer for Conran restaurants and the UK’s largest independent importer, an Italian specialist, travelling monthly to Italy, and was a broadcaster on wine. He founded Swig in 1996, firstly offering wine education, before setting up as a wine retailer and importer. Swig has made a specialism of finding interesting up and coming producers from around the world, but is particularly known for their dynamic Italian and new wave South African ranges. Last year Jancis Robinson devoted an entire article in the Weekend FT to Swig’s Italian selection.
