In April, wine educator Quentin Sadler will lead an exciting tasting of Portuguese wines. The line-up he has selected will showcase many of the country’s key regions, beginning with a range of impressive whites from Vinho Verde, Bairrada and even the Azores. Portugal produces outstanding white wines, yet they remain less widely known than they deserve.

The tasting will then turn to reds, the wines for which Portugal is perhaps better known. We will explore examples from several major regions — Dão, Bairrada, Alentejo and the Douro — offering a chance to compare their distinctive styles and grape varieties.

The finale will be something Portugal is justly famous for: a sweet fortified wine — though not the one you might expect.
