Wines of Tuscany

Tuscany, the most important wine region in central Italy, produces wines in a wide
variety of elevations, aspects, and soils. Vineyards spread from the plains on the
Tuscan coast and steep hillsides in Gaiole-in-Chianti and Lamole in Greve-in-Chianti. The
red wine producing sangiovese vine is the backbone of the region’s production, but we
will be tasting a number of white wines from the region as well.
Sara Daly, on her second visit to the society, will be our guide to the wines from this
region.
Sara is a journalist and wine professional who has written on a wide range of topics,
including food and wine.
In her wine career Sara specialises in Italian varietals. She is an Italian Wine
Ambassador for Vinitaly International, Italy’s top academic credential in wine, and a
WSET Diploma graduate.
